The Institution's Innovation Council of Jyoti Nivas College, Autonomous marked the
National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Day, coinciding with Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam's
birth anniversary, with a series of inspiring events. The highlight of the day was a panel
discussion with esteemed guests. The panellists shared their insights on innovation and
entrepreneurship, providing valuable advice and real-world perspectives. Their discussions
inspired students to think creatively and pursue their entrepreneurial dreams.
Day 2: Design Thinking Expert Talk

Ms. Soorya began the expert talk by addressing common everyday problems and introduced
the five phases of design thinking: Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test. She
emphasized that the process is iterative and non-linear, with potential failures and endless
possibilities. Using Google Glass as an example, she highlighted the product's failure due to
unclear need, poor marketing, high cost, and privacy concerns. She stressed the importance of
understanding customer needs, creating affordable prototypes, and seeking feedback for
improvement. The session concluded with a task for students to design "The Classroom of the
Future."
Ms. Sunita continued the talk by discussing student suggestions on hands-on learning,
devices for ADHD and visually impaired students, and the need for experimental learning
and a holistic environment. She highlighted companies like Apple and Uber using design
thinking. She introduced “Quest Alliance,” a non-profit fostering 21st-century skills in
government school students. She discussed their Quest Learning Observatory, emphasizing
sustainable practices and preparing students for school-to-work transitions, life readiness,
career exploration, and the importance of internships and opportunities at Quest Alliance.
