B . Voc courses with their thrust on skills and hands-on training are different from conventional education which focuses only on theory and are thus more viable options for aspiring graduates. Our college was one of the privileged few to be selected by the UGC to start the prestigious B. Voc Course. We accordingly started B. Voc. Visual Communication and Performing Arts. We welcome all kinds of students with their varied experiences to learn with us. It would be far too naive to believe that each fresh student or batch that gets admitted have an aptitude similar to the previous batch. Thus we begin with the students. Provide platforms to test their strengths and help incubate ideas, build bridges of contacts and goodwill between academia and industry, and offer different platforms that equip the students not only to find a living, but also to be prepared to thrive through all the seasons and challenges of life. Here are some amazing distinct highlights of studying media at Jyoti Nivas College.

The availability of equipment and media infrastructure is the backbone of effective training in media. Keeping in mind the fast-changing nature of media technology, the Centre is equipped with independent audio, video, news, and performing art studios, and editing labs with software.

We have annual media job-fair where varied companies come to the campus to recruit students for internships, jobs, and also to give guidance on higher studies in India and abroad.

Avant Garde Film Circle is a peer-learning and networking circle. The Film Circle has been a staple of the Centre for Media Studies going as far back as 2014.
The objective of the film circle is to focus on building a community of film enthusiasts. These students are given access to movies from different eras, languages, counties and genres that most mainstream platforms will not provide and the students may not have access to. Through the Film Circle, members will be able to appreciate the storytelling and technical production of movies that can evoke deeper, socially conscious and mature conversations.

Media students make their presence and contribution to the campus with their regular publication of campus newspaper, online television news bulletin, and radio programmes. Students begin to real-time media practitioners even as they are on campus.

The field of mass media is very competitive and requires a large capital for budding media entrepreneurs. This is something that many students from disadvantaged backgrounds do not have access to. It is sad to see young people, who aspire to embark on a career in media but fail due to lack of access to infrastructure, equipment, technology, networking support and guidance.
To address the challenge, Jyoti Nivas College established a Media Incubation Centre (MIC), which would serve as an incubation space cum launchpad for aspiring graduating students to build acumen to gradually become entrepreneurs. One of the programme is supporting women student filmmakers.
