Mission: To provide undergraduate student a comprehensive exploration of basic and applied concepts of Biotechnology with emphasize on interdisciplinary research to create opportunities for the students in current competitive world .

Biotechnology is a multidisciplinary field which is revolutionizing today’s world. It is an advanced branch of Biology containing numerous applications in its myriad fields. It is an arena where maximum research work is carried out with respect to pharmacy, agriculture, food and health care products. Research in Biotechnology is aimed primarily towards infectious diseases, genetic disorders, cancer, AIDS, Organ transplantation, vaccine production etc . Advancements in molecular Biology and Engineering sciences have introduced novel ideas in Biotechnology industries which includes Synthetic Biology , Biomanufacturing , Precision medicine etc

The Department of Biotechnology at Jyoti Nivas College Autonomous started in the academic year 2005-2006. Biotechnology department aims at rendering skill based learning with great focus on Research and innovation. Students of Biotechnology are encouraged and trained to build up their entrepreneurial skills, through the various collaborations of the department with different Biotechnology industries and academia which enables the Biotechnology aspirants to acquire all the necessary skills needed to enter the Biotechnology industry. Biotechnology laboratories are well equipped with sophisticated instruments which helps the students to get very good exposure in different fields such as Microbiology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Immunology, pharmaceutical Biotechnology, Agricultural Biotechnology, Biophysics and Bioinformatics

Objectives The main objective of the BSc Biotechnology course is to educate the budding Biotechnologists by preparing them thoroughly with basic theoretical and practical knowledge and managerial skills. Focus will also be given to acquire sophisticated expertise in Biotechnology for a diverse set of vocations. Qualified graduates will be able to engage in higher studies, research and development and management in biotechnology or work in different biotechnological industries.

Keenisha Kannan second year Biotechnology student was selected as an intern and Brand Ambassador at Test right Nanosystems pvt ltd which is an IIT Delhi based start up Biotechnology company specializing with spectroscopy and spectrophotometers. she had also completed Internship as Research Associate role in Life sciences with Biolim Center for science and technology and worked on developing artificial meat. Engaged in Medical writing ( For ILAE Wikipedia Epilepsy project ) Institute for Neurodevelopment.
Intern with MedBound which is a knowledge sharing and networking platform for verified medical and health care professionals .
Research intern at ADELBERT INNOVATION RESEARCH Private Limited which is an open innovation intelligence and scientific research company .

Ramsha Hasnain second year biotechnology student has successfully secured Fundraisisng internship at Muskurahat Foundation through Internshala. She has also secured Human Resources internship at shine projects through Intershala .
