DEPARTMENT OF BIOCHEMISTRY

Vision: To initiate in students the wonder of life at the cellular and molecular level, and through this study develop a respect for life.

Mission: The club’s mission is to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical application, empowering students to pursue research, engage in interdisciplinary projects, and collaborate on innovative ideas. Through Biochemia, students are encouraged to take initiative, share knowledge, and build a supportive network that nurtures both personal and academic growth.

Objectives:
To promote interest in Biochemistry: foster curiosity and enthusiasm for biochemistry among students through interactive discussions, seminars, and hands-on activities as well as workshops.
To organize academic competitions and events: host quizzes, competitions, and guest lectures to enhance learning, stimulate intellectual curiosity, and encourage healthy academic competition.
To foster research skills: promote and encourage students to engage in academic research by preparing and presenting scientific papers on biochemistry-related topics.
To enhance scientific communication: develop students' ability to effectively communicate their research findings through presentations, both orally and in written formats, preparing them for conferences, seminars, and academic publications.

While chalk and board teaching is the primary mode of teaching, charts, models, videos, OHP and power point presentations are also used as teaching aids. Students are encouraged to develop the habit of self-study and use of the library for reference work. The Department of Biochemistry organises seminars, conferences, guest lectures, workshops and demonstrations on the recent developments by inviting eminent scientists from various institutes.

Staff involved in research work have published research papers in various reputed journals and attended National and International conferences and presented papers.

The Department of Biochemistry organises inter class and inter collegiate competitions like lecture, essay writing on current topics, quiz, crossword, poster presentation, model making etc. under the banner "BIOCHEMIA” – BIOCHEMISTRY CLUB
