Value Education has always been given priority in Jyoti Nivas
College, making it an integral part of the curriculum. Whilst the
Christian students attend religion classes, the non- Christian students
attend Moral Philosophy classes. These Value Education classes aim at
teaching students values that are absolutely necessary for right living
in a society. The religion/ Faith formation classes are meant to deepen
their faith in Jesus, so that they may live better lives as Christians.
Along with the weekly prayer services, Eucharistic celebrations for the
Catholic staff are organised every month.
The academic year in the college begins with an opening mass. A
retreat is also conducted for two days every year which serves as an
excellent opportunity for the students to spend time in reflecting on
what it means to be a person of faith. The retreat impresses upon the
importance of scriptures and prayer as well as moral values.
The Christian Staff and students celebrate Christmas at campus over a
period of ten days. The campus has a cheerful, festive atmosphere with
hallways decorated with bells and stars streamers. Activities like crib-
making competition, carol singing competition and a food fest is
organized every year. The month long advent ends in a grand
Christmas celebration.
An intercollegiate gospel fest is conducted every year called "EL
SHADDAI" in which students from other colleges participate in
various activities organised based on Biblical themes.
The year ends with a thanksgiving mass organized by the committee.
