Title: “Cardioprotective Effect of Bio-tea against Isoproterenol induced Myocardial Infarction in Male Wistar Rats”

The aim of the study was to evaluate the cardioprotective effect of Bio-tea against Isoproterenol induced myocardial infarction in male Wistar rats. The beverage under investigation (Bio-tea) was produced by fermenting sugared black tea using a Kombucha pellicle (symbiotic association of yeast and acetic acid bacteria). Results of the investigation indicated that oral administration of Bio-tea on a daily basis effectively minimizesd the deleterious effects caused by Isoproterenol, thereby indicating its use as a potential cardioprotective agent. The overall cardioprotective effect of Bio-tea can be attributed to its antihypertrophic, antihyperglycemic, antihyperlipidemic, radical scavenging and membrane stabilizing properties. The in silico study indicated that some of the Bio-tea components could act as inhibitory agents against the intestinal fatty acid binding protein, mitochondrial pro-apoptotic protein, and matrix metalloproteinase-13.

Dietary Supplementation of Avocado Oil to Layer Hens and Study of Its Effect on Egg Yolk and Serum Lipid Composition (M. Sc. Final Year)
Avocado oil is edible oil pressed from the fruit of the Persea americana. Avocado which is rich in monounsaturated fatty acids (Oleic acid) has shown to reduce LDL cholesterol and consistently maintains HDL. Avocado is also rich in anti oxidants like vitamin A, C and E along with other beneficial nutrients such as Niacin, fibre and proteins. Early experimental results have shown that Avocado enriched diet lowers the LDL cholesterol. In the present study the effect of dietary supplementation of fractions of Avocado (oil, cake and non saponifiable residue) on egg weight, serum and egg yolk cholesterol, triglycerides and phospholipids were investigated in layer hens.
