MUSIC WORKSHOP – FUELING CURIOSITY, CREATIVITY, & COLLABORATION (December 2023)


The Department of MBA curated a 3-day Music workshop (December 6th to 8th) to enhance creative expression, foster teamwork, and explore the interplay of management and music.
Ms. Aditi Bharatee, a seasoned music educator, offered the students a glimpse into the intricacies of music—exploring pitch, rhythm, rap, etc. Through an array of engaging sessions, students were immersed in a unique learning experience, encouraging them to reimagine the role of music in the professional realm.
The Guest of Honor, Mr. Renson Thomas (HR Manager, Accenture), shared insights into how music’s transformative power could cultivate mindfulness, lateral thinking, and productivity. The workshop fostered a new outlook on music’s role in personal and professional development.










A Report on G20 - Tableau Competition


The Department of MBA conducted a G20 event - Tableau Competition on the theme “Vasudhaiva Kutmbakam – One Earth, One Family, One Future” 27th October 2023, from 1 PM to 3:00 Pm; the judge was Ms. Kavya KM, Assistant Professor from Oxford College, Kavya K M is an accomplished Assistant Professor with a rich blend of academic and industry experience totaling 5 years. Her commitment to education encompasses 3 years of dedicated teaching and 2 years of valuable industry exposure., there were 32 Students from 1st year M.Com( FA) and 58 Students From 1st year MBA a total of 90 participants.


The session commenced with welcoming the Judge and the rules of the tableau competition must be related to the G20 and its goals, such as economic growth, sustainable development, and global cooperation and must be inclusive and representative of the G20 member countries. The event aimed to showcase the creativity and innovation of participating teams in delivering impactful visual representations of global issues. The competition served as a platform for students to exhibit their creativity and contribute to the discourse on global issues.



The resource person’s presence added a touch of inspiration, making the event a memorable experience for all involved. The competition not only fostered artistic expression but also promoted critical thinking and awareness of pressing This session was very creative and made the participants think out of the box. Finally, the session concluded with a vote of thanks.



MANAGEMENT FEST: ADVITYA- UNIQUENESS


On August 18th, the PG department of commerce and management hosted "Advitya - Uniqueness," a national-level intercollegiate fest that brought together students from different colleges inside and outside Karnataka. The commerce and management fest aimed to provide a platform for students to display their talents, participate in various competitions, and improve their skills. Over 300 enthusiastic participants from 43 different colleges in and outside Bangalore graced Advitya - Uniqueness with their presence. Ms. Sandhya J, Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Narayana Health graced the occassion as the chief guest for the Commerce management fest.



GUEST LECTURE ON “BEING ENTREPRENEUR”


On August 5th 2023, the Department of MBA. Organized a guest lecture on Being Entrepreneur by Ms. Bhavika Shah, the founder of "Glam Your Face." This enlightening session aimed to provide valuable insights into the world of entrepreneurship, offering 59 MBA students a unique opportunity to learn from a successful entrepreneur.



TRIP TO COORG AND WAYANAD


In order to bridge the gap between academics and industry and provide students with valuable exposure, the Department of MBA organised a trip from July 18 to July 22, 2023 to the beautiful locations of Coorg and Wayanad. Students were immersed in a series of informative visits to important locations during the course of the five-day programme. Visited places such as the Dubare Elephant Camp, The Golden Temple, The bamboo forest, Harangi Dam and 900 Kandi and many more spots.



GUEST LECTURE ON GOODS AND SERVICES TAX


The Department of MBA organized a highly informative guest lecture on Goods and Services Tax (GST) on the 6th of July. The speaker for the guest lecture was CMA N. Raveendranath Kaushik, a distinguished expert in the field. The lecture was a comprehensive exploration of the complexities and implications of GST, shedding light on its economic and financial significance.



MBA ORIENTATION DAY

ORIENTATION PROGRAMME
The Department of MBA organised an orientation programme for the newly admitted MBA students, along with their parents, dignitaries, faculty members and Principal Dr. Sr. Lalitha Thomas. This event was aimed to showcase the culture of PG centre and responsibility to the students. During the Orientation, an interesting performance was given by the 2nd year MBA students highlighting the “seven habits of the college”.



HR CLUB ACTIVITY – “JINZAI”

The department of MBA organized an HR club activity 'Jinzai' with the objective to allow students to correlate academic skills with real-world context. Our alumni - Ms. Sirisha Raj and Ms. Likhitha Shetty, both HR Analysts at Deloitte judged the event. It was an interactive experience with business quiz, case analysis, and stress interview rounds.



BUSINESS GAMIFICATION BOOTCAMP

“Business Gamification Bootcamp’’
was organized by the department of MBA on 04 March 2023. The objectives are to create outcome-based education through business gamification through various events. The outcome of the event was students learned to move out of the comfort zone and play the game in a team. Students learnt collaboration, teamwork, planning, organizing, and financing.

SEMINAR ON DECODING UNION BUDGET 2023

The Department of MBA organized a seminar on "Decoding Union Budget 2023". Shri. Naval Kishore Bajaj, the President of BVSS Bangalore and Eminent Governance and Risk Management professional, enlightened the students on the eminence of the Union budget and its vision for 'Amrit Kaal'. The session gave the students, insights into the current scenario of the Indian Economy.



CONSTITUTION DAY

Date: 25th November 2022
The department of MBA hosted constitution day to commemorate the purpose of the constitution. Cultural programs were conducted, including songs, skits and dance, and concluded with a vote of thanks and national anthem. This event brought in a sense of responsibility among the students.

JOY OF GIVING

Date: 22nd November 2022
The department of MBA participated in the Joy of Giving on 22nd November 2022, organised by the PG CENTRE of Jyoti Nivas College Autonomous. All combination students, teaching staff and non-teaching staff participated with passion for creative art, cooking and sales to generate their best profits (for underprivileged people, orphanages etc.).



BOOK REVIEW

The department of MBA conducted a “Book Review Session” on the book titled - “MBA@16”, with the objective to encourage and motivate students to become buddy entrepreneurs of society and broaden their horizons of entrepreneurship. The review discussion ended with lots of curiosity and questions.

ARTICLE REVIEW

The department of MBA conducted an article review for its students with the objective to understand how learning and work should be balanced during critical times like Covid-19. “Social connection” and “Collaboration” were found to be essential to maintain the well-being of people.

MOVIE REVIEW

Date: 8th September 2022
With an objective to cultivate the interest of learning in students, the department of MBA conducted a movie review on the movie "Rocketry: The Nambi Effect". The movie depicted the struggles and accomplishments of ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan, who was wronged for always being right for his nation. The movie conveyed to the students that passion in education can help the society and country to grow.



MANAGEMENT FEST- EKATHRA-2022: “The Essence of Synergy”

The department of MBA organized the national-level, inter-collegiate management fest. The objective was to create an inclusive learning experience, develop managerial skills, help students learn networking, and nurture them with management skills. The theme was based on - Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. Mr. Ian Faria, a renowned speaker, leadership, and executive coach was the Chief Guest.

THE CARNIVAL OF AKRUTHI

The Department of MBA, organized a one-day fund-raising activity. The objective was - to raise funds for the management fest “EKATHRA – 2022”, to encourage students to think out of the box and to allow students to engage in meaningful and fun activities. Students from various departments including PUC, UG and PG took part in this Carnival.



WORKSHOP ON PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT

The department of MBA organized a one-day, interactive personality development program with an aim to inculcate values that complement academic learning. The program was hosted by Disha Bharat, a non-profit social initiative. The program's outcome was that it made students think positively about the country, culture, and self.



MDP - “MBA 4.0 – Bridging the Gap between Education and Industry”

The Department of MBA organized a Management Development Program (MDP), in hybrid mode. Notable speakers included- Ms.Annapurna A (CHRO/Director – Inspirage India), Mr. Bholanath Dutta (Educationist and Serial entrepreneur), and Mr. Niket Kumar Phuria (Senior Product Owner- Data Axle). The outcome of the program was that, students were enlightened about the use of smart technology, machines, and artificial intelligence in the workplace.



WORKSHOP ON ROLE OF SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING IN EDUCATION SECTOR

Date: 18th & 19th November 2022
The objectives were to understand governance & best practices in higher education, and to study ethics as a policy in education. The Department of MBA joined hands with the main theme and aligned the topics in the functional areas of General Management, Finance, Marketing, and Human Resources



INTERNATIONAL E-CONFERENCE ON - “OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND MENTAL WELLBEING: WORKPLACE INITIATIVES”

The Department of MBA and the Department of Psychology jointly organized an international e-conference with the aim to enhance workplace wellbeing, improve collective mental health, and share practical approaches. It had 3 international speakers and 759 registrations from 10 countries and 24 states in India. The E-Conference helped to share practical approaches for anyone involved in leading workplace wellbeing initiatives.



WORKSHOP ON RESEARCH METHODOLOGY AND SPSS

Date:1st October 2021
This online workshop was organized by the Department of MBA with the objective to introduce students to various research techniques that could be used in their future research projects. Prof. Brijesh Singh, Associate Professor at SJB Institute of Technology, Bengaluru, was the speaker of this online workshop and students were taught the application of SPSS software to process and analyse survey data.

Event: Christmas Celebration – JINGLE & MINGLE: Celebrate the season with love and sharing
Objectives of the fest

The Christmas Program with a theme of ‘Jingle and Mingle’ organised by the Department of MBA was held on 21 st of December 2020 at 2 p.m. on virtual platform, google meet. It had approximately 90 participants. Christmas being a season of sharing love, joy and peace, this celebration was organised to bring people together with one heart and soul and also share the joy of being together irrespective of the tough times like the pandemic.

The Christmas program organised by the first year MBA students started with an introduction about the season of love, joy and sharing, Christmas followed by a video from the first year students where they passed hearts to each other and danced symbolising sharing, love and togetherness. This was followed by a welcome speech and Christmas message by Dr. Sr Lalitha Thomas, Director, Jyoti Nivas College Post Graduate Centre. With a beautiful story of the angels singing Sister spoke about the joy of caring and sharing. The program continued with a quiz related to the theme of love and sharing where the students were divided into 2 teams of juniors and seniors and were asked questions on the identifying famous personalities and their Contributions. The participants then witnessed the carols sung by the students which brought in them a sense of joy and togetherness. The program concluded with the Vote of Thanks.

Objectives of the fest

  • To encourage talent from different colleges and provide a platform to promote healthy competitions among them.
  • To assist students in exploring and exhibiting their capabilities in the areas of marketing, finance, strategic human resource, social responsibility, and entrepreneurship.
  • To encourage and promote professional interaction among students.
The fest represents a confluence point for management students as corporate honchos and academicians resolving events dealing with leading business issues. The competitive events range across marketing, finance, strategic human resource, social responsibility, and entrepreneurship were organised. These events provide students a platform to showcase their managerial skills in real-life business scenarios. It also challenges them to think on their own feet and apply everything they have learned with split-second precision. The events are designed to encourage the participants to make the highest use of their potential in an attempt to bring out the best in them.
