CASE ANALYSIS WORKSHOP was organized by the department of MBA and M.Com (FA) at Jyoti Nivas College on May 03, 2023, from 9:30 am to 1 pm. The resource person was Mr. T K Rajiv, a corporate trainer with 25 years of industry experience. The workshop enabled the students to gain knowledge on case analysis using six thinking hats technique.

Behavioural Blockbuster was a fun-filled approach to learning management concepts through movies for I MBA students from 18/4/2023 to 28/4/2023. The students related and presented movie clip to organisational behaviour concepts like personality types, employee motivation, leadership, attitude, job satisfaction, stress management, Maslow’s hierarchy of needs and many more. Behavioural blockbuster activity broadened the students’ knowledge in organisational behaviour and aided them to think out of the box.

Naval Kishore Bajaj, the President of BVSS Bangalore and Eminent Governance and Risk Management professional, enlightened the students on the eminence of the Union budget and its vision for 'Amrit Kaal'. The session gave the students, insights into the current scenario of the Indian Economy.
ORIENTATION PROGRAMME
The Department of MBA organised an orientation programme for the newly admitted MBA students, along with their parents, dignitaries, faculty members and Principal Dr. Sr. Lalitha Thomas. This event was aimed to showcase the culture of PG centre and responsibility to the students. During the Orientation, an interesting performance was given by the 2nd year MBA students highlighting the “seven habits of the college”.

Dr. Nisha Shankar, faculty of the MBA department from Christ University, delivered a guest lecture on Behavioral Finance. The objective was to provide students with insights into topics such as stock trading, differentiation between traditional and modern financing behavior, cognitive biases in investing, etc. It gave students a deeper understanding of an individual's behavior in investing.

The department of MBA organized a guest lecture on business analytics by Mr. Mana Mohan R, the founder of CatersIn and Innovsmart Bangalore. The aim was to enlighten students about Financial Analytics. The lecture covered topics such as CRISP DM, SEMMA framework, Structured and Unstructured data, a live demonstration of data and text mining, and real-time twitter analysis.

The department of MBA organized a guest lecture on stock market with Stockbyte by Mr. Kishore B.S., CEO and CO-founder of Stockbyte. The objective was to enlighten students on the fundamental and technical analysis of the stock market. A PIT trading activity was also conducted to provide hands-on experience on how the market works.

This guest lecture was organized to acquaint students with the subject of AI because it was emerging trend which is incorporated in the curriculum . Dr. Anand Mahalingam from Data Labs, HDFC Life, enlightened the students on the technical aspects of AI and provided real-life examples for a better understanding of how the field of AI functions, and its pivotal role in the current era.

The objective of Gamification is to transform learning experiences by implementing gaming techniques into educational topics, increasing productivity, and engaging students. The Department of MBA organized a 5-day Entrepreneurship Gamification week, with activities on each day. The end outcome of this was enhanced individual capacity and self-confidence of students by getting to know themselves and thinking out of the box.

Ms.Sini John, Talent acquisition specialist at Goldman Sachs and Google, and Global technology Recruiter at JP Morgan and Co, gave a guest lecture on "Recruitment Trends for 2022" to MBA students. The outcome of this was that students learnt about tech roles, Boolean sourcing, Coding assessment platforms (such as Hackerrant, Github, Leetcode etc.), contact information scrapping tools, and other aspects related to current recruitment trends.

The department of MBA organized a trip to Ooty for 2 days and 3 nights. The main purpose was to explore new places, to understand the internal working aspects of a factory, and to enjoy with fellow mates. During the visit, students understood the process of making tea powder by witnessing its various steps.

The department of MBA organized a one-day visit to the famous Lulu Mall at Rajajinagar with 59 students and 3 faculty members. The objective was to identify customer pre-purchase behavior, observe store visual merchandising, and identify the importance of training employees. The students visited various retail outlets, cafes, food court, and the entertainment zone Funtura, where they enjoyed various exciting games such as VR rides and 9D theatre.

The department of MBA organized a public lecture with an aim to discuss topics such as - being 100% present, boosting one’s confidence, personal audit, time management, etc. Dr. Ushy Mohan Das, (creator of the widely acclaimed brand “The Mind Workshop”, and a renowned doctor) was the speaker. The session was very informative and interactive.

This program was an opportunity for students to engage in a 30-hour community service. The objectives were to develop a sense of social responsibility, improve the lives of people in the society, and understand the significance of volunteering. They volunteered by cutting vegetables, serving food, understanding the problems of people, etc. at places like Let Us Dream, ISKCON, ASVAS, etc.
“The Academic Insights”, is an independent information web portal and a monthly magazine, where achievements and contributions of educational leaders, renowned schools, colleges, and universities are covered. Jyoti Nivas College Post Graduate Centre, Department of MBA, took part in a survey process. After an in-depth analysis of the curriculum, Department of MBA curriculum was awarded with the title of – “Business School of the Year for Pragmatic Curriculum – 2021”.
International Leadership talk series 4 on Workforce Diversity and Inclusion was organised on August 26, 2022 with 220 participants. There were registrations across the world from Germany, UAE, London, Texas, Canada, California, Georgia and Russia. Participants were from Accenture, Cognizant, Genpact, Wipro, Christ University, BMS, Kristu Jayanti, St.Francis College and many more.
Ms. Deepika Trehan- Founder of the H.O.W Forum and Corporate Diva, Ms. Louis Robinson – International voice over artist and an entrepreneur, Ms Ritika Roy- Team lead and senior intelligence analyst Cognizant were the panel members. Mr.Dinesh Elangovan was the moderator. The participants learned through the panel discussion that a well-balanced world will accept different opinions and reduce fears towards differences.
To prepare students and the nation for emergencies, AICTE has launched the national call for the Global Digital Corps FieldOps Fellowship to select and train 200,000 students across India in digital disaster management tools used by government authorities and recognized by the United Nations.
The aim of these courses are to know how our government departments operate during a disaster and get trained in using digital tools used by disaster management authorities. The objective of the course is to educate and create awareness about the various government systems pertaining to disaster management. The courses thought the students about the disaster management and the pandemic management. The course dealt with various disasters like rainfall, landslides, flood and man-made disasters and how government responses to these disasters.
The Care System course gave the students the knowledge about what is care, asset and location management, how to register and diagnose the patient, shifting process and discharge of a patient. It also dealt with capacity management of how to send notifications and also access facility notifications etc. About 50 students took up the courses and were able to learn a lot about Disaster and Pandemic management.
This program has also helped the students a great deal in learning about how uncontrollable situations like these can be tackled and the proper measures that should be taken in order to cope up with another pandemic. The course provided a lot of information on the topics followed by quizzes which was a fun activity. Overall it was a great learning experience.
Department of MBA organised National level Leadership talk series III on Long-distance leadership: Managing remote workforce on September 9, 2021, from 3.00 to 4.30pm. The participants from MVIT, Kristu Jayanti, Soundarya College, Maharani Laxmi College, Christ University, Don Bosco College, and corporate executives from Amazon, Biocon and Accenture took active part in the leadership talk series III. There were 100 participant registrations for this webinar some of them are from Assam, West Bengal, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Under graduate students from psychology and journalism of Jyoti Nivas degree college enthusiastically participated in this panel discussion. Dr. Sr. Lalitha Thomas gave her powerful message through an inspirational story on failures.
The panel members Mr. Balaji Ranganathan, Ms. Kavitha Srinivasalu and Mr. Nirbhay Lumde shared their decades of experience with the students passionately. They enlightened the students with their excellent sharing and gave their insights on pandemic effects on work culture. Mr. Dinesh, expert and moderator, excelled in all domains to abridge the virtual gap and bring the best out of the panel members.
The Department of MBA of Jyoti Nivas Post Graduation Center organized a webinar on 'Craniofacial Acupressure Therapy' on the 29 June, 2021, from 3 pm to 4 pm in GoogleMeet platform. 94 participants included students from MA, MBA, M.Com(FA), MCA and M.Sc. departments and their parents attended the webinar. Our director Dr. Sr. Lalitha Thomas spoke briefly on the healing energy of touch. The resource person was Mr. Amal Augustine, who is a yoga practitioner and wellness therapist at Youthphoria.
Mr. Amal highlighted on the significance of de-stressing and explained the various techniques to stress management using the therapy. He explained in brief the anatomy of the skull and shown twenty minutes of live demonstration of the 360 degree craniofacial acupressure therapy on his daughter- Ms. Beaula Meghana. Participants got an opportunity through this webinar to learn craniofacial acupressure therapy and practice it on their parents during the session. The webinar was organized by Dr. Philcy Antony from department of MBA. Ms. Sarah, Ms. Mary and Ms. Nida were the student coordinators. The webinar was indeed an informative, relaxing and positive session to manage the stress and strain of the new normal.
Jyoti Nivas College Post Graduate Centre conducted a webinar on ‘Self-Healing
Plans During Covid Times’ on 8 th and 9 th of June 2021 from 3 pm to 4 pm. The
webinar organised on Google Meet platform by the department of MBA had 90
participants each on both the days from M.Com(FA), MCA, M.SC, MA and
MBA departments. Our Director Dr. Sr. Lalitha Thomas shared her profound
and uplifting message during the webinar.
The webinar was led by Mr. Amal Augustine who is a yoga practitioner and
wellness therapist at Youthphoriya. Mr. Amal has received training from Sri
Aurobindo Ashram, inner engineering and biodynamic craniosacral practitioner
Institute from London.
The resource person, Mr. Amal enlightened the participants about the
importance of healing plan to activate mind, body and soul. Mr. Amal along
with 4 students of department of MBA demonstrated the techniques of self-
healing through yoga. The self-healing included 10 mins of Asanas –
Padmasana and Vajrasana, 10mins of Pranayama- Anulom Vilom and
Bhastrika, which he emphasized as a natural vaccine for Covid-19 and also 10
mins of Meditation. The demonstration helped the students to learn these yoga
techniques for self-healing. Mr Amal also enlightened the participants on the
acronym DREAM for wellness, which stands for D- Diet, R- Rest, E-Exercise,
A-Activity and M - Managing time, money.
The webinar helped the students to understand the importance of wellbeing and
self-care. It gave them insights on the techniques and measures to tackle the
physical and mental stress during the pandemic and also helped students to
accept and deal with the loss of family members due to Covid-19.
The 2nd Leadership Talk Series on Start-up, Scale-up was conducted on February 19, 2021. 80 participants from department of MBA attended the programme in the conference hall. Expert panel members who took part in the Second Leadership Talk Series were Ms. Miranda Coppoolse-Founder of MC Global consulting, Dr. Meera Venkat-President of Raise Global, Ms. Roma Tiwari-CEO of Jeevat Learning and Mr. Dinesh Elangovan-Criminologist and GSI professional. Mr. Dinesh Elangovan, the moderator, facilitated a well-planned and high energy discussion.
Ms. Miranda Coppoolse joined the discussion from Netherland. Our director Dr. Sr. Lalitha Thomas addressed the students and encouraged them to be future entrepreneurs. The panel members discussed their entrepreneurial journey-challenges and opportunities, various methods of building a brand, lessons from their mistakes and thus motivated and inspired our students.
Department of MBA initiated a new project named: “INTRAPRENEURS IN ACTION 2020-2022”. This project was initiated by the new MBA batch 2020-22, with an aim of promoting and fostering the skills of students in social entrepreneurship. For that the entire class got divided into three groups and each group formed a company with solid vision and mission which is in align to intrapreneurship. This system allows a student to act like an entrepreneur inside the campus. The companies here formed under intrapreneurship project are AGRARIAN, PARIVARTANAM, DE BRANDTEC. The group Agrarian goes with the concept of providing cost effective sustainable products and services in the campus. In the campus itself the group started a small budget farming for the same. Debrantec , an integrated marketing consultancy project that helps clients (students and departments) in branding and promotional activities of various departments in the campus . Parivarathanam is rooted in social entrepreneurship by recycling and reuse of garbages out of paper.

The overall journey helped the students to strategize and work as a team, plan and overcome obstacles within the given time frame, smart thinking and team spirit etc.
The department of MBA organised an International trip to Thailand from 25 th to 30 th November 2019 along with 40 students, PG Director and 2 faculty members. They witnessed various places in Thailand like Pattaya, Alczarshow, floating market, Gems gallery, Bangkok, SriRacha Tiger Zoo, Marine Park, Golden Budha, Safari park, etc. On the last day of the trip the team headed to Assumption University in Bangkok and learned about the E-learning opportunities in the universities which was presented by the Dean of the University.
The First Alumni Meet was conducted on 23 November, 2019 by the Department of MBA to commemorate the 12 years of the launch of the MBA Programme in Jyoti Nivas College Autonomous. In order to make the sales executives aware about the different skills required at the workplace and to learn from the experiences sales executives have developed over the years in their organisation, the department of MBA organized a one day workshop on ‘Direction – Be Someone’s Light’ on 19th September 2019.
