Student Manual for Continuous Internal Assessment (MCA Programme)

1. The Continuous Internal Assessment (for Theory & Practical courses) will be divided as follows:

Theory Courses
Mid-Semester Exam – 20 marks
Assignment - 10 marks
Presentation - 10 marks
Activity - 05 marks
Attendance - 05 marks
Total - 50 marks


Practical Courses
Mid-Semester Exam – 20 marks
Project Review/Tests - 20 marks
Documentation - 05 marks
Attendance - 05 marks
Total - 50 marks

The Attendance components is replaced by other components such as online tests, MCQ in online virtual classes.

2. Students will be given an opportunity to improve their CIA marks and should meet the concerned teacher if they wish to do so.
3. Students must complete their work (assignments and presentations) in the stipulated time period / allotted date.

Assignments

  • The assignment should be relevant to the topic or question given and should be roughly 1000-1200 words long.
  • The students are expected to do an in-depth study on the recent technology, tool or protocol and its application in real-time problem.
  • It must be well organized having an introduction and conclusion.
  • The assignment must be well referenced and all the material used must be paraphrased in the students’ words and cited.
  • It is mandatory to have a bibliography/references section.

Presentations

  • Student will be given 8 to 10 mints for presentation.
  • Students must meet the teacher and discuss the structure and outline in advance.
  • Primary focus to be on the given topic.
  • Must make a presentation and not read from paper.
  • Must be able to clarify and answer questions relating to the presentation at the end.

Students’ activities

  • Students’ activities will be evaluated on the basis of their presence and active participation in co-curricular and extracurricular activities. Activities will be organized by the Department, JNC PG Centre, from time to time.
  • Students’ presence and participation in planning, organizing and coordinating activities like seminars, conferences, workshops and summits will be recognized.
  • Presenting papers in the seminars/conferences organized by the college or at other colleges, contributing to the college magazine, Newsletters, Student Journals, Dhii / Tech-on-Tap or Research journals and completing online/MOOC courses would also form an important part of academic activities.
  • Contribution to developing in-house projects or applications will be encouraged and rewarded with suitable marks.
