The Idea Incubation Committee (IIC) is an Innovation System instituted in the academic year 2019-20 to support Post Graduate students and select alumni in their quest to explore the world of entrepreneurship.

The STARPRENEUR SERIES – Success Story of a Startupreneur was organised by the Innovation Cell of Jyoti Nivas College Post Graduate Centre on 6th March 2021. The session was held on both offline i.e., in the college and online platform, Google meet from 10:45 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. with ‘STAR’Preneur -1, Mr. Raja Sekhar Kommu, Co- Founder & CTO Karnikos Healthcare. Approximately 150 participants benefitted the session.



Objectives
• To help the students develop an entrepreneurial mindset.
• To foster and promote creativity and innovation among the students.
• To help the students to understand the process and procedures involved to pursue their passion towards entrepreneurship by direct interaction with entrepreneurs.



The STARPRENEUR SERIES – Success Story of a Startupreneur commenced with a welcome speech and an introduction about the speaker Mr. Raja Sekhar Kommu who is the Co- Founder & CTO Karnikos Healthcare. Mr. Raja Sekhar has over 24 years of experience shared between both corporate and start-up. He has worked in different sectors including banking, finance, real estate, insurance and now into healthcare.

Mr. Raja Sekhar started the session with his journey of developing an app ‘ApnaComplex’ which was created to solve the problems of the housing societies. He spoke about the challenges and outcomes of developing, marketing and success of the app. The app is used in 80+ cities of the country and 25,000 apartments around. With an objective to bring in change Mr. Raja Sekhar started his second entrepreneurial venture ‘Karnikos’, healthcare.

The speaker during the session defined success by putting forth a question before the participants, “Is Mother Teresa successful or Bill Gates?”. According to the speaker satisfaction is more important than success and what is success to one may not be the same for the other depending on the field. Having no formal educational background with respect to business management Mr. Raja Sekhar spoke on how his experiences during the venture has helped him become a great negotiator, marketer, lawyer, economist and people’s manager. Mr. Raja Sekhar mentioned that skill set, passion and values are key for starting up business or become an entrepreneur. He is of an opinion that failures are important to learn and improve. The session concluded with a Q&A where the speaker cleared and answered the various questions and queries of the participants.
