SUNANDA is one of the social work Centers run by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Tarbes. Sunanda is a registered society is working towards the village development focusing on economically and socially backward sections of society. Today we are working in 47 villages of KGF Taluk, Kolar District, and Karnataka, India.

Sunanda promotes integrated and sustainable development with a participatory and non-political approach. The Vision is to build a new society based on Justice, Peace and Development.

The service rendered to many women and children at Sunanda is laudable. To run this project, Jyothi Nivas Collage, Post Graduate are great support.

We gratefully acknowledge to our Dr. Sr. Lalitha the Director of Jyothi Nivas Collage, Post Graduate Department for their constant guidance, and financial support to uplift the poor and the marginalized, especially for the development of women and children.

The services provided are as follows

  • Job Oriented Courses such as Basic Computer, Tailoring and embroidery, Coaching classes for the school going children, Capacity building trainings, Awareness programmes, Issue based programmes, Mid-day meal programme for the poor elderly

Coaching Classess were conducted regularly in 25 villages. These classes are conducted for minium 2 hour.


Tailoring, Embroidery & Handicraft At: Gollahalli; Pichaguntrahalli; Bommandahalli Tailoring classes are conducted for 5 months in the villages. From April 2019 to March 2020 we have trained 24 young women.

Mid-Day Meal Programme for the Poor Elderly 25 elderly people receive help. Along with the mid-day meal the following programmes were carried out such as: Family visits, Counselling, Medical assistance

Health Check up: On 2/12/2019 and 8/03/2020 the Health check up was organised for the elderly & for the children. Doctors came from Bangalore.

International Day for Person with Disability cum Christmas Day was organized on 22nd December 2019. Approximately 100 PWDs participated along with poor elderly people and children.
