Much before ‘multidisciplinarity’ and ‘industry -academia interaction’ became a trending phrases, the Postgraduate studies centre of Jyoti Nivas College conceived of a summit where academics, students, researchers and professionals from various disciplines could come together to listen and engage in mutually enriching discussions. Planned and orchestrated under the aegis of Dr. Sr. Lalitha Thomas by a multidisciplinary team from the PG centre, Jyoti Summit has become an annual event on the centre’s academic calendar.
Since 2013, Jyoti Summit has brought on to campus eminent academics, illustrious professionals and eager young students for exchange of ideas. It has emerged as a platform for cross disciplinary engagement and interaction, reinforcing the need for horizontal as well as vertical knowledge. Often, the departmental organisation of institutions of higher learning makes student knowledge exclusive and restricted to disciplinary boundaries. However, in order to address and solve real world problems, one needs comprehensive knowledge.
Jyoti Summit was the first step in this direction by the postgraduate studies centre of Jyoti Nivas College Autonomous. Since 2013, Jyoti Summit has been organised around many topics of universal relevance and significance.
