CHOICE BASED CREDIT SYSTEM (CBCS)

Continuous Internal Assessment and the introduction of the Credit Based System has brought our teaching programme on par with international standards. JNC recognizes that the overall growth and development of its students, is complete in a four dimensional perspective along with academics, i.e. co-curricular activities, extra-curricular activities, sports and social outreach programmes. To provide a dynamic, innovative, competitive, flexible and student-friendly learning environment, Credit Based System was introduced from the academic year 2009 – 2010. This system provides the students with a wider choice of interdisciplinary course and instills in them a greater sense of belonging and involvement; it gives them an opportunity to earn extra credits to enhance their academic experience. We strongly believe that higher education is effective and meaningful when the students are socially sensitized to cater to the needs of the people, in fighting against poverty, disease, illiteracy and ecological degradation. With this aim, several social outreach activities are also conducted.
Each student is expected to earn an aggregate of 150 to 160 credits from the plethora of programmes offered by the College, which include:

THE UNDER GRADUATE COURSES OFFERED BY THE COLLEGE FOLLOW THE CHOICE BASED CREDIT SYSTEM (CBCS)

Choice based credit system has been introduced for the under graduate programme at JNC from the 2015 batch onwards. In order to initiate qualitative and substantial changes in its Under Graduate programmes, Bangalore University has formulated guidelines based on the guidelines of the University Grants Commission and the State Higher Education Council and adopted the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) which provides flexibility in curriculum. Flexibility at the Under Graduate level can be offered only for general papers. Hence for the fifth and sixth semesters, JNC is offering three papers out of which one can be chosen on a first come first served basis.
