AUTONOMOUS STATUS OF THE COLLEGE

Jyoti Nivas College became an autonomous institution in 2004. It is affiliated to Bengaluru City University (BCU). Under Autonomy the College can frame the syllabus for the programmes offered by it, and has adopted innovative methods of teaching and evaluation. The undergraduate and post graduate degrees are conferred by the Bengaluru City University (previously called Bengaluru Central University).

TEACHING/LEARNING CRITERIA

The faculty members of JNC not only possess the required scholarly expertise, but also have a strong sense of passion and commitment to teaching. The focus of all their efforts is the student. They use a wide variety of innovative methods to supplement their classroom lectures. They facilitate and maximize the learning ability of the students through: Case study, Student seminars and presentations, Quiz, Projects and assignments, Problem solving classes, Book and film review, Field trips, ICT enabled learning, Guest lectures, Role play, Discussions, Debates, Class tests, Mid-semester and End Semester Examinations.

NATIONAL EDUCATION POLICY (NEP) 2020 

NEP 2020 is a transformational education system designed to meet the 21st century educational aspirations and needs. It is based on five aspirational goals: ACCESS, EUQUITY, QUALITY, ACCOUNTABILITY AND AFFORDABILITY. The due focus is given to make education relevant to society, culture, tradition, economy, employability, among other goals. ICT based education system envisages to reach out to all sections of the society and to all sectors of economy with enhanced employability skills and critical thinking.
The Govt of Karnataka announced that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 will be implemented in undergraduate colleges and universities across the state from the academic year 2021. We follow the NEP at Jyoti Nivas College Autonomous and offer programmes for Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science as a double major.

UNDER NEP 2020
Open elective (OE) courses are courses which are to be chosen by the students from an unrelated discipline/ subject with an intention to seek exposure beyond disciplines of choice.
The purpose of Open Elective Courses is to offer the students the option to expose discipline of interest beyond the choices they make in core and discipline specific elective courses.
