Emerging Trends in Public Policy and Implications for Development" ,Department of Economics



The Department of Economics, Jyoti Nivas College, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Public Administration - Karnataka Regional Branch, organized a National Seminar on 23rd January 2018 addressing the theme 'Emerging Trends in Public Policy and Implications for Development'.

The seminar encompassed two technical sessions, a panel discussion and two parallel paper presentation sessions from eminent resource persons from within and outside Karnataka. The chief guest of the conference was Dr. Kalpana Kannabiran, who gave the keynote address of the conference. Post the keynote address, the book of abstracts of the papers presented during the conference, and 'Arthashastra', the newsletter of the Economics Department, were released to the public. The Technical Session 1 related to Emerging Trends in Public Policy in India and Implications for Development. The Technical Session 2 related to Ethics in Public Policy, the Panel Discussion covered Developmental Issues and the Role of Public Policy. The Parallel Sessions had Paper presentations and the seminar concluded with a Valedictory address on Public Policy and Development. The students took home valuable lessons on a vast field that affects everyone, from common citizens to policymakers, with an aim to contribute to better policymaking.
