Spiritual & Pastoral Ministry

1. The Pastoral committee of Jyoti Nivas College Autonomous, with Dr. Sr. Elizabeth as its convener adopted the theme of 'Jubilee Year of Mercy' keeping in view the call of Pope Francis to be Merciful as the Heavenly Father is merciful. The sessions began with four hours of interactive classes on Spiritual and Corporal works of Mercy.

2. Inaugural Holy Eucharist was celebrated on July 13, 2016 with Fr. Roque HC, as the main celebrant. In his homily, he urged the students to move with vision and focus for the year.

3. Jyoti Nivas College has always believed in the wholesome spiritual nourishment of all students. The catholic students participated in the annual retreat conducted by Fr. Vijay, Hyderabad & Team of Divine Retreat Centre from July 10 - 11, 2016. The deeply spiritual experience of students was visible in all the praise and worship sessions during the retreat.

4. As part of the Golden Jubilee year, the Pastoral committee organized 50 hours of chain adoration from July 10 - 12, 2016 which was well attended by staff and students. The final hour was led by the AICUF team of the college which culminated in a prayerful procession of the Holy Eucharist.

5. We concluded the Jubilee year with a Holy Eucharist presided over by Fr. Saji Mathew OFM on July 12, 2016. At the end of the celebration, the Golden Jubilee flag was ceremoniously brought down.

6. Commemorating the world day of Peace and Harmony, the pastoral committee organized an hour of inter-faith prayer service on September 20, 2016. Prayers for peace and offertory of symbols representing various faiths marked the meaningful hour.

7. On September 23, 2016, Ms. Yuvonne Pereira and her team of volunteers from the Archdiocese of Bangalore enlightened the students on the uniqueness and importance of the Year of Mercy.

8. The enthusiastic participation in the Carol singing competition to mark the birth of Jesus Christ on December 16 was a uniquely celebrated event. III Pengs emerged victorious in the competition.

9. Epiphany the manifestation of Lord Jesus Christ was celebrated on January 10 with the college community and in the presence of visually and socially challenged children from in and around Bangalore. Rev. Fr. Mathew SDB, the chief guest for the occasion appreciated the social consciousness of JNC family.

10. Thanksgiving Eucharist was celebrated on February 20, with Precious Blood Missionary, Fr. Anthony, Rector of Retreat house, as the main celebrant.
